well-worn groove

ground zero chopper throwdown

this is the fourth year for trent's get-together
in albuquerque.
my fourth time to go as well.
trent has been putting me to work for years now,
shooting his bikes.
more often than not, i get a call that goes like this...
"hey fucker, just finished another pan/knuck/shovel.
get up here and shoot it, owner takes delivery in two days."
i have made many midnight runs to the atomic compound.
about a twelve hour ride from my home in houston.
always worth it.
always regretting that i didn't have more time...
not to take photographs, but to just hang out with
my friend.

ground zero gives me that time.

tom foster - los angeles, california

tom and i were brought together a few years ago after the passing of a mutual friend, johnny vasko.
i was lucky enough to pay tom a visit a while back, and have plans to return soon.
tom is a fascinating character.
we stay in touch via text and phone and i am proud to call him a friend.

sometimes...

its not about the photo.
or the lighting.
or the angle.
sometimes (most of the time), it becomes about the memory.
of lying in the middle of an intersection on a sunday morning.
inner city.
wrong side of the tracks.
church bells ringing from all around.
homeless guys dressed as gnomes.
me telling ratfink john to "go faster, jump farther..."
and him doing it, repeatedly... despite breaking shit on his sportster in the process.
and big john digging the scene, being big john.
nothing else matters.
